Boys & Girls Futsal 2021

FIYA Futsal is our 5 v 5 indoor soccer league and is set to return in the spring of 2021! Check back to this page shortly for further information and important updates regarding the upcoming season. See below for more info on what futsal is, how it's played, and how you can learn more to prepare for our next season.

NOTE REGARDING COVID-19: We are planning for a full year of FIYA sports in 2020-2021, but it is subject to change and revisions may be implemented based on any government restrictions or other issues related to COVID-19. Consequently, if any currently scheduled event is to be cancelled, payments for FIYA leagues and tournaments will be reimbursed in full to registered schools.

FIYA Futsal leagues are currently offered for teams in:

Division 2 - 6th Grade & Below

Division 3 - 4th Grade & Below

Currently, we only provide leagues for Division 2 and Division 3 teams. Depending on the number of teams registered, many of our previous seasons have been co-ed. Feel free to email us at in the spring to know if that upcoming season will be competed as co-ed or single gender teams.

Futsal is our 5 v 5 indoor soccer league. It's an exciting, fast-paced and small sided soccer game played:

  • on a hard surfaced basketball-sized court
  • with a smaller, low bounce ball
  • and with touchline boundaries, without walls.

The best part? Because it's played indoors, the only 'equipment' required in futsal are athletic sneakers, shorts, a t-shirt, and in FIYA, shinguards!

As noted by the U.S. Youth Futsal organization, some of the main benefits and components include that the game:

  • allows players to frequently touch the ball.
  • presents many opportunities to score goals and score goals often.
  • encourages regaining possession of the ball as a productive, fun and rewarding part of the game (defending).
  • maximizes active participation and minimizes inactivity and boredom.
  • reflects the philosophy of player development expressed in state and national coaching schools.
  • and it eliminates complicated rules such as off-sides that may hinder youth athletes from "playing".

Futsal is played across the world and is officially recognized by both FIFA and UEFA. As part of FIYA's vision to include more diverse offerings so that consequently more students can participate in youth sports, futsal is a great addition because it emphasizes technical skills in high pressure situations which can also be translated into the outdoor game of soccer. It's an awesome skill developer demanding quick reflexes, fast thinking, and sharp passing.

The more pleasure your kids get from their participation, you'll see the more they'll wish to play and practice on their own!
